Serena W Sorrell lives in Osaka, Japan with her husband and two cats; Mucha the munchkin and Freyja the scottish fold. After emigrating from the USA in 2008 she toured Japan as an ESL teacher before finally deciding writing was what she liked best.
Her days are spent cat-praising (first and foremost), followed by lots of writing and reading. Dinosaurs, unicorns, dragons, and books are a few of her favorite things.
As for her tastes in literature, she loves some dark fantasy, mythology, autobiography, science fiction, steampunk, adventure, and non-fiction. Okay, so just about anything is fair game.
Her writing style has been largely influenced by Peter S. Beagle, Diana Wynne Jones, Tanith Lee, Maggie Stiefvater, and Holly Black; as well as classic fairy tales.
She is currently attending online courses from the University of Chicago for certification in copyediting.
