Some exciting things happening recently. Mind you recently for me is sometime at the end of May… I like to write ahead.
I’ve applied to an online program for a university certification in copy-editing. I know my grammar is quite dreadful, I don’t need to be told.
I think, if accepted and graduated, this will allow me to finally stop teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). Unfortunately, after nine years in the field I just am utterly disenchanted by it and it’s a burden. I like the act of teaching, but perhaps not teaching in a foreign country? Or the foreign school system bureaucracy? Or something? It’s hard to be an immigrant, please be kind to immigrants. We are doing our best. Except that I’m a Caucasian immigrant in Japan, and I wager the immigrants you meet most often are probably not. Be kind.
So, another exciting bit about this program’s possibility is if my husband is transferred (again) I can skip the whole interviewing process for another job I do not want and freelance or try to find online work via publishing/copy-editing.
Ah, to work at home. Every introvert’s dream, am I right? Well, hopefully I’ll have a nice answer in 4-6 weeks.
